3DXTECH Simuboneā„¢ Bone Modeling Filament

FDA Certified Anti-bacterial PLA filaments

SimuBone Bone Modeling Filament allows you to print realistic bone models for clinical and educational use. Our formulation is based on easy to print PLA coupled with specialty additives that gives your part the look and feel of real bone. Our filament is easy to print on practically any 3D printer and mates perfectly with our AquaTek X1 water soluble support for printing complex parts with dual extruder printers. ISO Certified Anti-bacterial: We understand that these parts are likely to be handled by many people, so we formulated the polymer to be ISO certified anti-bacterial. Our ISO certified formulation uses a FDA-approved nano-silver antibacterial additive to achieve ISO 22196:2011 certification for eliminating 99.9% of bacteria for the lifetime of the printed part. Furthermore, our SimuBone resin is produced in an ISO 13485 compliant facility and is ideal for use in healthcare clinical and education settings. Our formulation is PLA-based and is therefore non-toxic and biodegradable.

3DXTech Filament Guide

Filament Drying Instructions

Proper filament care is crucial for achieving quality prints and extending the life of materials. Filaments should be stored in a dry environment, ideally in airtight containers with desiccants to prevent moisture absorption. We offer various types of storage solutions that will keep your filaments in optimal condition.

For filaments that have already absorbed moisture, we recommend filament dryers that effectively remove moisture and restore their printing properties. Our dryers are designed to be easy to use and efficient.

Whether you need storage, drying, or maintenance of filaments, proper care will ensure that your materials are always ready for printing at the best quality.

Max drying temp:Ā  Important – this temperature should not be exceeded without risking the deformation of the filament, reel, or both.

Drying duration:Ā  This of course depends on how wet the material is.Ā  If it has been sitting out for several weeks or months, then you may need to dry it longer to drive out the moisture.Ā  High-temp materials like PEKK, PEEK, and PEI may need to be dried longer since they are slow to pick up moisture, but also slow to give moisture up when drying.

Drying Nylon:  Anyone who prints with nylon knows how fast it can pick up moisture and what this does to the quality of your printing.   We recommend 90°C and at least 4 hours to dry nylon, but this is a starting point.  Saturated nylon may take 24+ hours to dry enough to make decent prints.  Keep the material in a dry place while printing and between print jobs to make drying easier.

Over-drying Nylon:Ā  One thing to note is that over-drying nylon can be more difficult to dry and handle.Ā  Nylon actually likes a little bit of moisture in it or it will be brittle and more difficult to process.Ā  Printing with nylon is so much fun!

Vacuum oven:Ā  The use of a vacuum oven is of course helpful, but not necessary.Ā  Any oven that heats the filament up to the recommended temp is generally suitable.Ā  There are several filament ā€˜dryers’ on the market (Printdry, ebox), but even a simple toaster oven can dry the filament between uses.

Ventilation:Ā  It’s always a great idea to make sure you have proper ventilation in your printing environment – whether during printing or drying filament – to assure good air quality while processing these plastic materials.

Smoke and Fire Detection:Ā  Please make sure you have a smoke detector in any environment where you are printing.Ā  You are processing plastic materials and many of them are flammable and all exude some vapors during printing.
